Kalart’s environmental impact

We often hear that crypto art, digital art, NFTs pollute and are bad for the environment.

It’s the # 1 concern of all of our creators who care about Kalart’s environmental impact: making art, OK, but not at any cost.

All this starts from a real observation: the first projects, the first NFT platforms, were very energy intensive. Among the blockchains pointed out, the famous Bitcoin, or Ethereum, which pollutes a lot.

What does pollute mean for a platform?

To pollute, as we mean here, is the act of spending a great deal of unnecessary energy. The energy expenditure, the bill, could be reduced. This is why The Merge project was launched. At the end of this project, the Ethereum blockchain will consume 99% less energy, moving from “Proof of work” to “Proof of stake” operation.

(To put it simply: the “proof of work” mode makes computers work all over the world to create a block in the blockchain, most of which for nothing, where the “proof of stake” only makes a few predefined computers work. . More efficient, right?)

Because we have children, because we care about our planet, because we think about on our impact as citizens, we decided by creating Kalart to link our platform to Polygon.

Polygon is to date one of the least polluting blockchains (source: https://blog.polygon.technology/polygon-the-eco-friendly-blockchain-scaling-ethereum-bbdd52201ad/)
